Fundraising Objective
Although the Divinity School is part of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, it does not receive government funding. Its financial support relies on contributions from Chung Chi College, supporting denominations, and donations from churches and individuals.
Chung Chi Theological Education Fund
The Fund aims to support expenses related to newly hired teachers, ensuring the continuity of our faculty team during a time of transition. We continue to need financial support for this purpose as we are currently in the second phase of our fundraising efforts. Over the past three years, fundraising initiatives, including our walkathon, have generated approximately HK$4 million for the Fund, and we anticipate needing an additional HK$3 million to support expenses for new faculty members.
Maintenance of the Theology Building and the President Chi-tung Yung Memorial Building
The President Chi-tung Yung Memorial Building and the Divinity School Chapel have been in use since 2011, nearly 15 years to date. Many facilities, such as air-conditioning and fire protection systems, have become outdated. The Theology Building also has multiple items of equipment that are aged and require replacement, repair, or system upgrades.
Of the funds raised from this walkathon, 85% will be allocated to the “Chung Chi Theological Education Fund”, while 15% will be designated for the “Maintenance of the Theology Building and the President Chi-tung Yung Memorial Building”.
